Privacy
Privacy policy
The short version: this is a personal site that collects almost nothing. No cookies, no accounts, no tracking that follows you around. Here’s exactly what that means.

What this site collects
joelkidd.dev is a mostly static personal portfolio. It has no accounts to create, no forms that submit data to me, and no shopping cart or login. Beyond the standard server logs described below, it doesn’t gather personal information about you.
Analytics
There isn’t any. This site runs no analytics or telemetry — no page-view tracking, no visitor counting, no third-party measurement scripts of any kind. Nothing on the page reports back about your visit. That’s also why you won’t see a cookie-consent banner: there are no tracking or analytics cookies to consent to.
Cookies
This site sets no tracking or advertising cookies. It doesn’t use local storage to profile you. Your browser may cache static files (images, fonts, stylesheets) to make return visits faster, but that’s standard browser behaviour, not tracking.
Sharing an article
Articles end with share links (X, LinkedIn, and a copy-link button). They’re ordinary links and browser features — no share widget, script, or pixel from those platforms loads on this site, so they can’t see that you read a page unless you choose to click through. If you do, you land on that platform and its own privacy policy takes over from there.
If you email me
The contact links on this site open your own email client or a third-party profile (LinkedIn, GitHub, Instagram) — nothing is submitted through the site itself. If you do email me, I’ll have your email address and whatever you choose to write, and I’ll use it only to reply and to continue our conversation. I don’t sell it, share it, or add it to a mailing list.
Hosting and server logs
The site is hosted on Google Firebase Hosting. Like virtually all web hosts, Google keeps standard request logs — including IP addresses — to deliver the site reliably and guard against abuse. Because Google operates globally, serving these pages and keeping those logs may involve processing that technical data on servers outside your country, by Google as the hosting provider under its own privacy policy. These are ordinary operational logs, not something I use to identify or profile individual visitors.
Links to other sites
This site links out to places like LinkedIn, GitHub, Instagram, Crunchbase and the occasional article. Once you follow one of those links you’re on someone else’s site, governed by their privacy policy — not this one.
Your rights
Depending on where you live — including under the EU/UK GDPR and the DIFC Data Protection Law — you may have the right to access, correct, or ask me to delete personal data I hold about you. In practice the only personal data I’d ever hold is an email you sent me. To ask about it, or to have it deleted, just email me.
Changes to this policy
If the site’s data practices change — for example if I add a contact form or a newsletter — I’ll update this page and the “last updated” date above.
